Ingredients
- Whole Masoor/ Red Lentil - 1 cup
- Raw banana - 2 small
- Onions - 1, finely chopped
- Coriander Leaves - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
- Mint leaves- 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
- Ginger garlic chili paste- 1 tablespoon
- Cumin Seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt- as per taste
- Ghee- for frying
Directions
- Soak the whole masoor dal in boiling water for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, discard the water and grind the whole masoor in a blender till it forms a smooth paste.
- Meanwhile, pressure cook the raw banana along with the peel till it is well cooked.
- Once the raw banana has cooled down, mash it using a fork, add onions, coriander and mint leaves, ginger garlic and chili paste, cumin seeds, salt and mix well.
- Next add the blended masoor paste to the raw banana mixture and combine both well.
- Heat some ghee in a pan and while the ghee is heating, form small tikkis using your fingers.
- If this feels difficult, you can also use your palm to pat the tikkis and give them the desired shape.
- Slowly, add the tikkis to the pan and let it cook on a medium-low flame for 3-4 minutes before flipping it.
Serve the masoor tikkis with mint coriander chutney for snacks or add these as a side dish in your main meal as a source of protein.
